Instead of continuing his independent exhibition, Yuasa outsourced to Netflix on Devilman Crybaby (2018): a side-shift away from his introspective styles to instead his eccentric styles of direction. Alongside the decrease in visual quality, Devilman improperly develops its main characters, instead focusing on not as useful side characters. No emphasis is placed on intraneous (un-observable) struggles of the characters, instead focusing on plot-driven extraneous features - reducing its realism. The high-mark in visuals feels sloppy, despite its obtuse symbolism.
