Girlish Number (2016) is an example of failed satire. From anime industry which the main character is a part of - no sort of progression occurs. Nor does the madness (the idea of ripping off and manipulating their customers) get any more creative or conclude in any interesting way. Instead, many episodes meander on often cheaply made uninteresting jokes made to reference industry production without providing any idea on what actually occurs. Taken out of context, girlish number has no intent, no judgement or piece of wisdom to give to the anime industry. It is shallow, vapid.
