A Bridge to the Starry Skies (2011) retains every convention of slice-of-life, never inventing anything new, whilst attempting cheesy affairs at "character development" and pathos. It's as if the conventions displayed in Neon Genesis Evangelion were taken out of context and a frankenstein of a genre was created, far from its original intent.

New Game! (2016) is a welcome change from the absurdist (yet unrealistic) plots of other ecchi and slice of life related shows. The detailed analysis of creating video games alongside a company is a nice touch. Episodes can derail into unfunny jokes, yet with sometimes unique visual styles incorporated. The suspense over whether the game will receive popular attention adds flavor to an otherwise pretty bare bones slice of life economy.
