Baccano! (2007) intertwines many characters and elements into a highly inconsistent experience. The core action predominantly takes places on a train with interlaced flashbacks completing an obscure puzzle, a lot of which doesn’t make sense. The comedy - a mixed bag - waters down any serious artistic statement.

Isshuukan Friends (2014) (english not listed for convenience) works well under a centralized gimmick while incorporating many high-school romantic comedy tropes.
